Intensive Cardiac Care Unit (ICCU)
The Intensive Cardiac Care Unit (ICCU) is a 8-bed critical care unit providing comprehensive care for critically ill patients with a primary cardiac diagnosis. The ICCU performs intense monitoring of patients and cares for those requiring Intra-aortic balloon pumps, external temporary pacemakers and continuous renal replacement therapy.
The ICCU also works closely with the Cardiac Catheterization Lab to assist in quick diagnosis and treatment of patients requiring percutaneous coronary intervention for ST elevation myocardial infarction, providing some of the best door-to-balloon-inflation times in the state. Highly trained nurses in the ICCU also respond to all cardiac and respiratory arrests in the hospital, assisting with immediate treatment of these critically ill patients.
